While tapered insulation systems have an important role in the successful performance of the roof assembly, proper design and installation are even more important.
With RAM Building Consultancy’s technical expertise’s, you can count on us to provide you with a full tapered roofing service, from technical specification through to project management.
We will undertake a detailed survey of your project, looking at design options for tapered roof insulation such as hips, falls and valleys, as well as considering what the waterproofing and insulation requirements are. Using this information to design a detailed tapered roofing system, will ensures that the most cost-effective solution is identified and that the result is a roof which meets your specification for rainwater run-off and insulation requirements.
WHAT IS A TAPERED ROOFING SYSTEM?
A ‘tapered’ roof system or ‘cut to falls’ insultation is where the slope or ‘pitch’ is formed from lightweight insulation materials. Integrating tapered insulation into a flat roof covers two of the main considerations of any roof refurbishment project, thermal performance, and drainage.
BENEFITS OF A TAPERED ROOFING SYSTEM:
-
Reduced costs and installation time – It is quicker to install than a roofing system that would require a layer of screed on top, using screeds can also introduce moisture and take a long time to set.
-
Lightweight – The weight of tapered insulation is significantly lighter than that of screeds, offering a benefit of reducing additional weight on structures.
-
Increases the longevity of roofs – When a flat roof does not have sufficient falls a variety of issues can arise, in particular holding water which can lead to structural defects of the roof deck, condensation and unwanted vegetative growth on the roof.
-
Reliable drainage
-
Help provide leak protection
-
Increase thermal performance
Significantly reduces ponding
